NoS Summary - Interior and exterior of a gold mine near Dolgelley in Wales.
British Pathe synopsis: "And there is a gold mine in Wales - near Dolgelley, to be precise - where the mountains sweep down to the river" Panning shot of the valley - a river runs through it. Dissolve into a M/S of hillside with small white building. C/U of man walking into what looks like a cave with a pick over his shoulder. He is followed by two men pushing a coal truck along a track into the mine. Interior of the mine - men are at work with picks. "Here, deep in the hillside, the gold miners of Britain find a livelihood, hewing out the ore containing the precious metal" M/S of two men hacking at the rock. C/U of man at work pushing a truck full of ore. He puts out his tongue in concentration as he approaches the camera. Exterior of the mine - man walks out of the entrance, followed by a truck of ore pushed by two other miners. L/S of the exterior of the mine - some buildings on the hillside. L/S of men on top of a rickety looking construction. The truck is emptied down a chute. "Back in the mine-works they are crushing and washing the ore, and extracting the minute particles of gold" M/S of men at work in the processing area. High angle of water passing over the ore. Various shots of processes involved. M/S of man using panning tray to lift out gold particles. "The ore and the gold - one worth pence - the other £400!" C/U of man holding a piece of rock and a bar of gold.
