British Pathe synopsis: "Oh! the joy of the youngsters when the crackers appear. Then the fun begins! But let’s go back a bit and see how they come into the world..." C/U of woman counting out sheets of paper. "Quick counting wasn’t it? Now the sheets have to be cut..." Woman cuts the paper into oblong shapes with a paper knife. "...and a nimble machine makes those dainty little fingers." C/U of hand propelled machine which cuts a fringed edge to the paper. "Then a rapid assembling of paper, gelatine, motto, etc..." C/U of all the various elements being stuck onto the base of the Christmas cracker. "...and plenty of toys for the boys (young and old)." Little toys are put inside the cracker. "This expert worker can assemble 1,000 crackers a day." "Of course, if you really want a giant." C/U of a very large cracker being pulled. Smaller crackers fly out of it. By a camera trick (film reversal) the little crackers magically form themselves into a message "Best Wishes from Pathés"! - Keywords
