BFI synopsis: A look at "The Dukeries", Edwinstowe’s 12 pits, the most productive in the country. Mechanisation and works facilities, including canteens are looked at. The miners’ homes are also seen, and ownership of fridges, washing machines and televisions emphasised. The need for new miners is also emphasised, and the new development plan for the area is mentioned, with a look at training colleges.
