Chief interest in the first days play in the Oval centres on the race between Duleepsinhji and Sutcliffe for their centuries. England batted first on an easy wicket and, although rain interfered, laid the foundation of a big score. The Prince of Wales was present during the game, which is here described by Mr MD Lyon.
