Midsummer Night’s Dream, A

Synopsis
Contains the complete Alexander text of the play, an audio version, photographs from performances, and extracts from the BBC Shakespeare production directed by Jonathan Miller. Coverage includes characters, plot, performance, language, themes, Shakespeare’s live and times, sources and critical opinion. The ‘plot’ option, for example, offers summaries of three levels of complexity. Under the ‘themes’ option information is provided either by sound archive material or video footage of authorities on the subject e.g. ‘love and marriage’ is discussed by Bill Alexander and Peter Brook. The ‘background’ option provides a range of critical opinions and historical information.
