Notes
- General
- The schedulers seemed anxious about broadcasting Shakespeare in peak time as evidenced in the short piece in TV Times’ (May 18 1956) in which Patricia Routledge, who appeared in the play, said ‘we have found that a lot of people who might have shied off Shakespeare have come along and absolutely adored it because of the music’. The production was promoted as ‘ideal family viewing for the Whitsun holidays’.
- History
- The play was transmitted live and not recorded. No copies have been located in film archives.
