Notes
- General
- Alan Bates was originally cast as Mark Antony but was injured and so unable to play the role; Bates later played Antony in an RSC production with Frances de la Tour as Cleopatra. The production was a sell-out (the perceived ‘dream’ casting of Mirren and Rickman) before opening but proved a popular and critical failure.
