Notes

Notes
Over 400 young people between fifteen and twenty-one were involved in the production.
General
Because of its reference to contemporary culture (jazz score, teddy boy dress, knives and police beatings) the production was nicknamed the "Teddy boy Caesar" (Radio Times, 16 April 1954, p.51).
History
The stage play was initially performed at the Queen’s Theatre, London, in 1960. It was broadcast on Shakespeare’s 400th birthday. This is the first time a National Youth Theatre production had been presented on television.
