Notes

Notes
The Folger reference copy is a video cassette produced from Kinescope. Rothwell in Rothwell & Melzer Shakespeare on Screen: an International Filmography and Videography (London: Mansell, 1990, p 151) notes ‘the blurry images on the screen take on the look of beserk film noir’).
History
The production was scheduled on the same evening as the re-staged JULIUS CAESAR (d. Paul Nickell); two Shakespeare plays shown on primetime was (and is) very unusual.
Reviews
Jack Gould, New York Times (22 May 1949).
