- Robert Hardy, who has performed almost every other part in the two works, gives his first Falstaff performance. According to the BBC Radio Press Information, Hardy’s relationship with the part goes back to 1944 when he saw Ralph Richardson play Falstaff - a performance he watched 21 times (BBC Radio Press Information, Week 16, 15-21 April1995, p. 11).
