- General
- Kenneth MacMillan created IMAGES OF LOVE as part of a triple bill staged by the Royal Ballet to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the birth of Shakespeare. The ballet had nine separate sections, each introduced by a recording of some lines by Shakespeare, spoken by actor Derek Godfrey. Each quotation included the word ‘love’, and MacMillan’s choreography reflected what each one suggested to him.
- History
- The ballet was first performed April 2 1964 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
