Notes
- General
- According to the BBC Radio Press Information, author Nan Woodhouse’s inspiration for the story came from living next door but one to Susanna’s home, Hall’s Croft, in Stratford-upon-Avon. Woodhouse says that she was intrigued by the little that is known about Hamnet’s twin sister: "History seems to have painted her as some kind of idiot or peasant, possibly because, although she could write, she always signed her name with a cross. Through my researches I realised that there was a lot more to this woman and that she had a truly interesting story of her own" (qtd. in BBC Radio Press Information Week 17, 20-26 April 1996, p. 26).
