Peter M. Morris in his survey ‘Shakespeare on Film’, Films in Review 24: 3 1973):132-163 notes ‘the production in general lacks poetic feeling, the acting is stilted and the speeches are inaudible. The sound track is not even properly synchronised with the visual image’.
