Synopsis
BBC radio series. Six commissioned lectures on Shakespeare and his meaning in the modern world. In episode 2 director Michael Bogdanov calls for the resuscitation of Shakespeare suffocated by centuries of adoration. Bogdanov deplores the way in which Shakespeare in taught and examined in Britain, in a way that bolsters cultural conservatism. Tom Morris presents and chairs a question session with the audience in the Purcell Room, London.
