- Sound tape in 2 parts (4 tapes) in which Professor Harold Brooks discusses Troilus and Cressida. In Part 1: INTRODUCTION AND DRAMATIC UNITY Brooks gives an introduction to the play emphasising its uniqueness. He discusses the treatment of the play’s dramatic unity, the choice of subject, the unification of themes of love and war and the deeper meaning of these two themes. He concludes his talk on the dramatic unity of the play with a consideration of the role of Thersites. In part 2: LEADING THEMES AND THEIR DRAMATISATION Professor Brooks discusses value, valuation and time. The talk concludes with a discussion of the treatment of imagery and a review of the play’s stagecraft.
