According to the programme notes in Radio Times, the object of this series is to emphasise the inter-relation of the plays. The continuity is emphasised by casting and by incidental music specially composed by Antony Hopkins.

Last production in a series of nightly broadcasts of Shakespeare’s historical plays that the Third Programme transmitted within a single week. The play was broadcast in two parts with an interlude of music.
