- The inaugural production from the RSC Academy created to develop full training and educational programmes in classical theatre for young people, members of the RSC and the wider world.
- History
- Press night (Swan Theatre) 23 September 2002. The production then formed part of the RSC’s annual residency in Newcastle before moving on to the Young Vic in London.

- Nonso Anozie played Lear in this production when he was 23 years old. He was the only black actor in the production.
