Notes
- Notes
- Director Peter Kavanagh decided to set the production ‘in the urban and urbane society of modern Italy’ so that the soundscape, according to Radio Times programme notes, is made up of ‘hissing espresso machines and buzzing Lambrettas’ (2-8 October 1999, p.119).
Commercially released as part of the BBC Radio collection series in 1999, cassettes and CDs of the production that include an introduction by Richard Eyre and an essay by director Peter Kavanagh are available for sale from the BBC Shop (www.bbcshop.com) or through retail outlets. - History
