William Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus
- Synopsis
- Feature length low-budget film shot on digital video. A modern re-telling of Titus Andronicus featuring the disaffected youth culture of the ‘Goths’ and fervent lobbyists from the Saturnius and Bassianus ‘parties’. The film’s press release states that ‘whereas other adaptations of the play, such as Julie Taymor’s TITUS, have concentrated on the more sensational and violent aspects of the play, Richard Griffin’s vision highlights the intrigue and complex cycle of vengeance triggered by one person’s lack of compassion and a senseless act of violence. Nigel Gore brings humanity and passion to a character long neglected in the history of drama’.
