- Synopsis
- Two new productions by New York City Opera. Each segment includes two arias performed by singers from the productions, interspersed with discussions with the singers, directors and set designers. The singers speak about their roles, the rehearsal process and audience reactions; the directors and set designers speak about the decision to give the productions modern settings, and their interpretations of the scores. Panellists are Lauren Flanigan, Mark Delavan, Leon Major and John Conklin; the moderator is Bridget Paolucci. 1. L’ITALINIA IN ALGERIS. Opera excerpts performed by Phyllis Pancella and Kevin Glavin. MACBETH (47mins). Opera excerpts performed by Lauren Flanigan and Mark Delavan. The panellists discuss the relationship between Verdi’s MACBETH and the Shakespeare play.
