Notes
- General
- The Radio Times listing, announcing the broadcast of "Godfrey Tearle and Mary Hinton in the Witty and pleasant conceited Comedy called The Taming of the Shrew", playfully alludes to the title of an anonymous play published in 1594, which is believed to be a plagiarism of Shakespeare’s play: A Pleasant Conceited Historie, called The taming of a Shrew. As it was sundry times acted by the Right honorable the Earle of Pembrook his servants.
As Petruchio Godfrey Tearle performs a part he never played before. - Textual information
- A written transcript of the production is held at the Birmingham Central Library as part of their Shakespeare Collection.
