Spirit World, The
- Synopsis
- Radio programme featuring a selection of poetry and music on the theme of the spirit world. The programme includes an excerpt from Verdi’s Macbeth. Dominic West’s reading of the Apparition Scene soliloquy from Hamlet is followed by the musical adaptation of the same scene in Ambroise Thomas’s opera Hamlet. The programme closes with the slow movement from Beethoven’s Ghost Trio, a piece which is thought to be based on sketches for an opera based on Macbeth, a project that was never realised.
