Synopsis
Ninth in a series of ten educational radio programmes in which various aspects of Shakespeare’s life and work are discussed by scholars and theatre practitioners with illustrative excerpts from his plays and poems. In this episode Pamela Brown and Alec Clunes perform in speeches and scenes from Antony and Cleopatra. Leo McKern and William Squire star in excerpts from Julius Caesar and Coriolanus. J. C. Sisson contemplates on what might have led Shakespeare to write his Roman plays.
