Bluebeard’s Eighth Wife

Synopsis
Romantic comedy feature film. Michael Brandon (Cooper) is a millionaire who enjoys getting married but has difficulty staying married: he’s had seven wives and is looking for number eight. He thinks he may have found a new bride in the person of Nicole de Loiselle (Colbert), whom he meets in a shop on the French Riviera. Nicole vigourously rebuffs his advances but Michael is inspired by a reading of The Taming of the Shrew to discipline her. He marches into her room to the accompaniment of military music and slaps her on the face; she slaps back. He returns to his room and turns to the text and gets another idea. He goes again to her room and this time pulls her over his knee and spanks her saying ‘Shakespeare!'. The text eventually gets thrown on the fire.
