Synopsis

Promotional DVD to raise donations for the building of the new Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford upon Avon. Artistic Director Michael Boyd and Executive Director Vikki Heywood speak of their vision for a new theatre. Judi Dench, Patrick Stewart and Gregory Doran support the appeal. Includes brief comment from an architect and structural engineer with shots of the building work and plans for the finished theatre. There is footage from the History Cycle plays, directed by Boyd, being performed in The Courtyard and comment from actor Chuk Iwuji on the intimacy of the thrust stage from an actor’s viewpoint. Also vox pops from young Stratford theatre-goers. Presented by Michael Wood.
