Benjamin Britten and His Festival

Synopsis
Television documentary marking twenty years of the Aldeburgh Festival and the opening by the Queen of the Maltings concert hall. The film begins with scenes in Paris where Britten’s opera A Midsummer Night’s Dream was being performed in the International Theatre Festival in preparation for the Aldeburgh Festival. There are shots of the young singers as tourists in Paris accompanied by the opening chorus of the opera intercut with scenes from it. Narrated by Patrick Allen.
