Young Victoria, The
- Synopsis
- Biopic. In one scene Queen Victoria is listening to a reading from Richard II. The scene is Act 3, sc. ii
`Not all the water in the rough rude sea
Can wash the balm off from an anointed king;
The breath of worldly men cannot depose
The deputy elected by the Lord:'
Only part of Salisbury’s reply is heard:
`... discomfort guides my tongue
And bids me speak of nothing but despair’.
The reason why these lines are quoted from Richard II at this particular moment is that an insurrection is mounting outside the palace. [With acknowledgment to Keith Jones, proprietor of www.Bardfilm,blogspot.com for the reference]. - Language
