Notes
- General
- A production within The Bridge Project, a three-year transatlantic partnership between the Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Old Vic and Neal Street Productions.
- History
- Staged at BAM’s Harvey Theater, Brooklyn, NY, 24 February-13 March 2010; and at the Old Vic, London, 12 June-21 August 2010.
- Stills
- "The best thing about The Tempest is its visual coherence. Eschewing the fashionable colonial reading, Mendes presents the play as a piece of meta-theatre with Prospero an all-controlling director-playwright. This yields one beautiful image in which the masque becomes a recreation of Manet’s Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe, with a sun-hatted Prospero presiding over a pastoral idyll" [Michael Billington, The Guardian, 24 June, 2010).
