- Synopsis
- Radio programme celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Royal Shakespeare Company with music written for Shakespearean adaptations in film, theatre, ballet and opera. Includes soliloquys performed by members of the RSC. The music ranges from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Verdi’s Macbeth, William Walton’s score for Henry V and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet. There’s also music from Patrick Doyle’s score for the Kenneth Branagh film versions of Much Ado About Nothing and Hamlet, Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate, Rodgers and Hart’s The Boys From Syracuse, West Side Story and the film SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE.
