- Synopsis
- Radio programme. The centrepiece of this programme which presents highlights from Music Nation concerts across Britain is the UK premiere of singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright’s ‘Five Shakespeare Sonnets’ - performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra (Rory MacDonald conducts) at London’s Barbican Centre. Actress Sian Phillips reads Shakespeare sonnets. Other Shakespeare-related pieces include highlights from Prokofiev’ s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and Korngold’s incidental music ‘Much Ado About Nothing’.
