Synopsis
Nicholas Hytner delivers the 2nd annual Stanley Wells Lecture. Hytner talks about the problems of staging and directing Shakespeare using examples from plays he has directed while Artistic Director of London’s National Theatre including Henry IV Parts 1&2, Henry V, Hamlet and Timon of Athens. He also speaks about his forthcoming production of Othello with Adrian Lester in the title role. The lecture is introduced by Professor Peter Holland.

The lecture took place at Trafalgar Hall, University of Notre Dame’s London premises in Suffolk Street, London. This annual event, is co-organised by the Shakespeare Institute, the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, and Notre Dame University, and was inaugurated in 2012 with a lecture by Professor Wells himself.
