- Bollywood version of Hamlet. Ophelia is a young journalist, Polonious a policeman, Laertes works for a multinational and Hamlet is a philosophy student from Kasmir, the former Himalayan province. The film sets the play in the 1990s, the most intense years of the ongoing insurgency which put Kasmiri militants and separatists against security forces for more than two decades. Hamlet’s father has been killed by paramilitaries recruited by the Indian authorities and run by his uncle.
