- Synopsis
- Radio broadcast. Presenter Sue MacGregor looks at how Peter Brook’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1970 heralded a radical shift in productions of Shakespeare. She is joined by Peter Brook, designer Sally Jacobs, and actors, Ben Kingsley, Barry Stanton, Sara Kestelman and Frances de la Tour all of whom acted in the 1970 production. When questioned about the videotape of the production which it is rumoured was made during a tour in Japan (and further rumoured to have been burnt on Brook’s instructions) Brook makes it clear that he doesn’t want the production to be preserved in that form.
