Les Amants de Vérone

Alternative title
The Lovers of Verona
Synopsis
A cinema production of Romeo and Juliet forms the backdrop for this film set in post-war Italy. Angelo, a glassblower and Georgia, the daughter of a magistrate fall in love when they’re hired as stand-ins for the actors playing Romeo and Juliet in the film. Life imitates art when their relationship is frowned upon by relatives - setting them on a path to destruction that mirrors the fate of Shakespeare’s ill-fated, young lovers.
