- Audio podcast. Rosie Goldsmith speaks to Norwegian thriller writer Jo Nesbo, who has written a crime novel set in the 1970s inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The books has been published as part of the Hogarth Shakespeare Series in which celebrated authors re-imagine the plays of the Bard. Other books in the series include: Edward St. Aubyn’s Dunbar (from King Lear), Tracy Chevalier’s New Boy (from Othello), Margaret Atwood’s Hag Seed (from The Tempest), Anne Tyler’s Vinegar Girl (from The Taming of the Shrew), Howard Jacobson’s Shylock is my Name (from The Merchant of Venice) and Jeanette Winterson’s The Gap of Time (from The Winter’s Tale).
