Our Shakespeare Reading Club: Dickinson Reading Antony and Cleopatra and Othello
- Synopsis
- Video recording of a live seminar held online over Zoom starting with a half hour presentation by Páraic Finnerty (University of Portsmouth) on American poet Emily Dickinson’s engagement with Shakespeare’s Othello and Anthony and Cleopatra, which were both considered controversial plays at the time. The texts would have been censored in general editions then available to Dickinson. This is followed by a discussion.
