Blood on Santa’s Claw

Synopsis
This audio drama is a continuation of the television series Doctor Who, with Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant returning to their roles as the Doctor and Peri respectively. This comic story is the first episode in the 4-part anthology release, Doctor Who: Blood on Santa’s Claw and Other Stories, and is set on the Earth colony planet Naxios in the 59th century, a time when it is possible to worship any deity one choose. A group that venerates Shakespeare is currently the dominant faith and is exploiting smaller sects, including one that worships The Wind in the Willows, to mine silver. In the meantime a creed that worships Father Christmas is being sent to investigate the situation but its members are being regularly assassinated. The Doctor resolves the situation by travelling back in time and getting Shakespeare to write two new plays, Triumph of the Shrew and A Winter’s Toad, which extoll the virtues of the creatures the Shakespeareans have been exploiting. As a result the Shakespeare worshippers decide to stop using the smaller creatures as slave labour.
