- This week, Mike Matthews visits Overton, in Hampshire, 6 miles west of Basingstoke on the B3400. Track 1- His first interview is with Mike Dolls at The Portal Paper Mills Company. He talks about the establishment. It is a large manufacture of paper for Bank notes and needs a lot of security. They need to be careful who visits this place. He talks about the Company’s history and says that it is the largest manufacture of Bank notes in the world. On Track 2, talks to David Walford, just outside Overton. He is incharged with keeping the river Test in good condition for fishing. He has to clear the water cutting the weeds and maintening the river banks, etc. A third visit is to Richard Oron, a person with a great knowledge of village history. On Track 3, Mike Matthews talks to Stan Cooper in a farm. He talks about breeding horses. Finally talks to Cecilia and she talks about the village in her younger life. [Box 4]
