Career
Arthur Irwin was a sound engineer with Gaumont British who in about 1936 was featured in a publicity photograph, using his sound equipment next to a camera car. He was still working for Gaumont British after 1945, and was credited as sound engineer to cameraman Peter Cannon [qv] on ‘MR CHURCHILL SPEAKS TO FARMERS’ in Gaumont British News No.1997 of February 1953. Cannon and Irwin also covered ‘CITY FREEDOM FOR THE QUEEN MOTHER’ for Gaumont British News No.2069 of November 1953.
