Peter Nerreter was commentator for a number of Movietone issues in July 1967, from British Movietone News No.1987 to No.1989A. He helped to provide relief for Movietone’s regular commentator, Leslie Mitchell [qv]. His employment is similar to that of C. Hamilton [qv], C. Reed [qv], and D. Scott-Job [qv], all of whom were tried out at this time. Peter Hampton [qv] recalled that Fox were tired of Mitchell and wanted a ‘more modern voice’ for the reel. A number of commentators were tried out, but only Nerreter was any good.
