Summary
Men of the British forces serving in Burma registering their votes. Arrival back in England from Berlin of Churchill together with Mountbatten who was called to the Potsdam conference from the Pacific. Their respective wives greet them. At Woodford, Mrs Churchill and Labour candidate Farmer Hancock, are seen together after the election results were announced, Woodford having voted in Churchill’s favour. Herbert Morrison is congratulated after his victory at East Lewisham. Ernest Bevin is seen, on the eve of the poll, opening cottages at the Merchant Seaman’s Home at Limpsfield, Surrey. Then Mr Attlee speaks on Labour policy after Labour’s victory landslide in the General Election.
