MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: King and Queen See Land Reclamation. DESCRIPTION: Their Majesties visit the Cambridgeshire Fenlands to see how land is being reclaimed and producing valuable crops. SHOTLIST: 1. King and Queen talking to members of the Women’s Land Army. 2. King and Queen inspect a bog-oak ‘cemetery’. Some of these trees are said to be hundred of years old. 3. King and Queen embark on a barge to make a trip along the Burwell Lode. Some of the land they passed on their way is now planted with potatoes and sugar beet. 4. King and Queen watching various mechanical cultivators on the derelict land. A stump Jumper at work and a Disc Harrow. 5. The King and Queen by the rushes, which are being cleared. 6. Their Majesties watching the digging-out of a bog-oak by the Women’s Land Army and a bog-oak being towed by a tractor. 7. Talking to girls who are digging out the bog-oak and close-up of the girls. 8. Talking to men digging trenches. 9. Disembarking from barge to make their tour of inspection.
