Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Kweilin Evacuated. DESCRIPTION: As the Japanese advanced towards Kweilin in south-west China, the decision was made to evacuate the civilian population. The only transport out was the single-track railway and the station was soon packed with potential travellers, some waited more than three days before they boarded a train. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV terrain, etc. Various street scenes of Chinese evacuating, pillboxes in streets. Chinese used all types of conveyance. CU child being fed with rice. Crowds gather at single track railway station, one child sound asleep, almost impossible to wake him. Various shots of goods train, loaded with luggage etc., & population, steams out of station; the train is packed with people, anywhere they can get, & luggage.
