- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Last of the "Tirpitz". DESCRIPTION: The mighty German battleship which had been hiding out in various Norwegian fjords is no longer operational. The Royal Navy had crippled the ship with their mini-submarines and the RAF finished the job on the 12th November. SHOTLIST: Cut story (Library Material - KS. SV of "Tirpitz" prior to launching, crowds cheering. Elevated shot of crowds, arrival of Hitler, giving Nazi salute as he struts through crowds. SCU of lines of German sailors. CU Hitler. GV bows of "Tirpitz". Launching of "Tirpitz". CU name "Tirpitz" on side of ship. Down slipway, and shot of stern in water & camera). Shot of Aircraft Carriers line ahead, formations of Barracudas, above is the raid of 5.9.44. Aerial shots of smoke screen, largest ever, & explosions. On 29.9.44, more aerial shots of another raid, shows low lying clouds, occasional shots of "Tirpitz". Aerial shots of Lancasters in formations. "Tirpitz" firing ack-ack guns & probably her 16" guns. Last attack, Lancasters in flight, perfectly clear sky, approach "Tirpitz", guns open up, 12,000lb bomb falling, & direct hits registering on battleship. "Tirpitz" completely covered by smoke from explosions of bombs.
