Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Test Match - Brisbane (1st Day). DESCRIPTION: The First Test opens in scorching weather with Australia winning the toss and batting first. The Aussies went on to amass the record total of 645 and the outlook for England is bleak. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS CU Australian posters referring to the Test Match. Crowds seated on grass in sunshine. MS man under umbrella, three girls seated on grass, man amongst crowds sitting with trousers rolled up to his knees, men wearing paper hats, another drinking from bottle, another looking through field glasses wearing topi. Crowds standing, watching game. Hammond leads English team onto field, some of them are wearing sun hats. GV crowds. MS Morris batting. MS Bedser bowling. MS Barnes batting. GV crowds. Bradman batting, hits ball to square leg, crowds clapping. Douglas Wright bowling, SCU in slow motion. SCU Bradman batting, ball. GV Bradman hitting ball for two, running. GV Wright to Bradman who hits it to boundary. Spectators in tree tops. GV Hassett hits ball for three. GV Bradman again hitting out at ball.
