MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: China. DESCRIPTION: In Washington, Mrs Chiang Kai Shek is greeted by Mrs Marshall. The former asks for assistance from America. At Yenan City, communist HQ, the Communist leader, Mao Tse-Tung looks around. In the town of Suchow, fighting in progress, before Chiang Kai Shek’s troops evacuate same. SHOTLIST: KS Madame Chiang Kai Shek alights from plane in Washington. Walks through crowds of photographers. Enters car & drives off. In garden of Mrs Marshall with same. They sit down. CU Madame Chiang Kai Shek speaking about China’s need for help. LIBRARY - Aerial of Yenan. China. GV of streets & town, with background of cliffs. MS passing camera - Communist leader, Mao Tse-Tung. CU Mao Tse-Tung. CU Chiang Kai Shek. Suchow - MS street scenes, lorries pass loaded with troops, soldier patrols street. Correspondents interview Colonel Chiang (second son of Chiang Kai Shek). Mule convoy passes along road. Several action shots - mortar fire, Bren guns being fired. GV trench scene. Plane being unloaded of sacks of rice. Wounded Nationalist troops being placed aboard plane. Interior of plane shows stretchers put in place. Various shots of Chinese Communists seated in rows, after being captured, also cut-in of their modern equipment, guns etc. SCU Chinese Communist prisoners of war.
