Summary
Berlin in full Allied occupation. Shots of the Brandenburg Gate. Posters outside Adlon Hotel. Shells of buildings; scenes of ruin in the Reichstag and the Chancellery (flashback to Hitler’s hour of glory in the once splendid building). Now Allied soldiers walk through the ruins - see Hitler’s desk and chair. Women clear rubble away from their doors. General Lines (?) [sic] takes the salute as the Desert Rats march through the capital - up Unter den Linden. Allied generals a 1870 victory column, witness the flag-raising ceremony. General Weekes (?) [sic] takes the salute. Sergeant Cole (?) [sic] raises flag. US NATIONAL ARCHIVE ENTRY: 13 min, sd, B&W, 35mm Reel 1 Part 4 Debris in Berlin including the devastated Reichstag building.
