Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Tour of Yorkshire. DESCRIPTION: The Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh visit Halifax, Huddersfield, Leeds, Wakefield and York. SHOTLIST: KS. HALIFAX - Crowds outside Town Hall. Alight from Royal Train at Halifax Station, Princess Elizabeth & Duke of Edinburgh. Received by Earl of Scarborough, Lord Lieutenant. Drives through cheering crowds, mostly children, waving & cheering etc. Margaret Denton, a schoolgirl presents bouquet to Princess Elizabeth. Car drives through streets leaving Halifax. HUDDERSFIELD - Crowds of children at football ground, form letters ‘PEC’. Royal car drives round circumference of ground. Children cheering. Royal couple inspect Trafalgar Mills, both inspect clothes & chats to (silent) operators. LEEDS - At Roundhay Park, Joan Thompson presents bouquet. GV of thousands of children give gymnastics display. Royal car leaves Leeds en route for Wakefield. WAKEFIELD - Outside County Hall. They walk in procession along street to the Town Hall. Cut-in cheering crowds. Mayor of Wakefield escorted, & Princess Elizabeth presented with a bouquet from Sheila Wild. Duke inspects Guard of Honour of Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Cut-in Princess watching, also SCU Princess Royal & Lord Harewood watching. YORK - Several good shots of York Minster. Duke of Wellington’s Regiment inspected. Colours blown about in high wind. Emerge from York Cathedral - GV Cathedral, walk through narrow street- Stonegate, several shots. In procession. Cathedral in background. Walk through Deanery Close - cut-in baby asleep as royal couple pass. MS old buildings of York & procession to finish. Walking down Stonegate several shots.
