Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Arrivals at Colombo Conference. DESCRIPTION: Colombo was chosen for the Commonwealth Conference. Among those seen arriving are Mr Malcolm MacDonald, Pandit Nehru and our own Foreign Secretary, Mr Bevin. He was received by Ceylon Prime Minister, Mr Senanayake. SHOTLIST: KS. Street scene. Various shots of streets, shows tramcar, market scenes, etc. York plane taxies, Malcolm MacDonald alights greeted by government official. CU MacDonald. Dakota taxies, Nehru alights, greeted by crowd, many garlands placed round his head. Crowds line streets to see Nehru. Launch into camera, aboard Bevin. Several shots of Bevin aboard with Prime Minister Senanayake. Walk ashore & along terrace into camera. Cut-ins of harbour scenes. Senate Buildings where conference was held. SCU of room (exterior) windows of conference room. GOOD SCENES:- Various street & market scenes, very good. Several harbour scenes, activity in general. Senate Buildings.
