Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Nairobi Becomes a City. DESCRIPTION: Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, has grown to a full-size township in the course of its fifty years of existence. The Duke of Gloucester was present to make the Charter presentation on behalf of the King. SHOTLIST: KS. MS street scene shows passing traffic. Several traffic scenes. Duke & Duchess of Gloucester arrive, crowded streets. Artillery firing salute. Duke inspect Guard of Honour. Mayor, Mr Woodley welcomes Duke at Town Hall. MS platform outside Town Hall. Duke presents letter patent to Mayor. Sir Philip Mitchell, Governor of Kenya, presents city mace. Duke knights Charles Mortimer, touches him on shoulder with sword & Mortimer rises from kneeling position.
